If I made a list of all of the things that could go wrong with planning a wedding, having my wedding photographer cancel on me two weeks before the big day would not be on my list. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened to Andrea and Ben just before their wedding day. Finding a replacement wedding photographer two weeks before your big day isn’t as easy as deciding on a cake flavor! Thankfully, somehow Andrea found me and I just so happened to be available to photograph her intimate wedding at Cherokee Bluffs Park.
One of the (many) reasons I love photographing weddings is because I’m provided with the opportunity to learn from two families. From following a bride and groom along on their wedding day, I gain insight to their family values, their values as a couple, and the values they intend to carry into a marriage.
Above all, Andrea and Ben care deeply about serving and loving those close to them. This wedding ceremony alone was a testament to their devotion to their families. This ceremony, simply put, was for their families.
Andrea, originally from Mexico, was blessed to have her closest friends and family fly from her native country to be in attendance for the ceremony. Ben had his closest friends in family in attendance as well, with his father serving as best man and his brother serving such an invaluable roll in the ceremony.
After the ceremony, the newlyweds and I took a short hike for some husband and wife portraits. These two had no issues trudging through tall grass or climbing rock formations, even with Andrea in 4-inch heels! I only learned later that she actually used to be an avid rock-climber, so walking up a tame rock in heels was no big deal for this girl.
Andrea and Ben, thank you so much for blessing me with the opportunity to photograph your intimate wedding day. With a day so focused on family, I’m beyond grateful that you two invited me to be a part of your family on such a momentous day.
