Anyone who is familiar with the great state of Colorado knows that the mountains are home to some of the most beautiful fall colors in the country. It’s no wonder that Hilary and David chose to have a Colorado fall engagement session, with flashes of gold and orange peppered throughout the tree line.
Planning for a fall engagement session can be tricky, but with some strategic planning and a pinch of luck, we were blessed with the most gorgeous fall colors!
My couples often ask me if engagement sessions are dog-friendly, and my answer is always yes! Having a dog myself, I am 100% supportive of couples wanting to include their fur-baby in these memory photos. My dog, Rocky, is truly a part of the family. I only wish that he was a part of the family when my husband, Patrick, and I had our engagement photos taken! But then again, we had our engagement photos done in Paris, so I’m not sure how well Rocky would’ve faired international travel as a puppy!
When dogs are included in the engagement session, I suggest to my couples to bring a backpack for the dog filled with some treats and toys to keep the pup entertained while we’re taking photos. I like to make sure the engagement session is around 50% human photos, 50% human + dog photos. While the dog is taking a break from his modeling debut, we normally tie the leash to somewhere close by or I hold onto the leash with my non-camera hand (get yourself a photographer who can do both!). Sometimes, we’ll even have the dog roam off-leash depending on his training and the engagement session location!
Hilary, David, and Iggy (their pup) were all smiles and tail wags throughout this fall engagement session. We took advantage of every area that screamed fall, with packs of golden trees and piles of fall leaves just waiting to be thrown in the air.
