In my opinion, a wedding day should be a reflection of the couple getting married. The more special, irreplaceable moments, the more unique and memorable the wedding day is. Candace and Rob’s wedding at a gorgeous Italian inspired wedding venue was just that – unique.
Candace and Rob chose to do a first look so they could have a moment to themselves on their wedding day – something very important to them seeing as their children were members of the bridal party! As a parent, it can be very hard to “turn off.” With children often asking for help, love, and attention, this first look gave Candace and Rob some time to reflect just the two of them on their wedding day.
Speaking of children, I cannot think of anything more special than a bride and groom incorporating their kids on a day defined by love and unity. Just look at Rob and Candace’s faces when their daughter, the flower girl, walked down the aisle! Their daughter decided to even join them for her parents’ husband and wife portraits, following along with a bag of skittles in tow.
During a wedding reception, I always pay attention to the toasts. I think it’s so cool that as a wedding photographer, I get to spend the day with a couple and their most intimate friends and family. The toasts help me gain insight as to who the bride and groom truly are, and how they came to be. Some toasts are emotional, some are humorous. Rob’s best man chose the humorous route, perhaps one of the funniest I’ve ever heard.
Rob’s best man started his speech with some sentimental praises, reminiscing on his and Rob’s relationship. Then, the best man started playfully chastising Rob and advised all of his past lovers to return a key to his place. All of the sudden, the majority of the women in the room stood up and took turns returning keys to Rob! The best man had the entire reception room roaring with laughter.
