Friends, do I have a beautiful wedding to share with you today! Clara and Drew’s beautiful wedding at the Juliette Chapel in Dahlonega, Georgia has quickly become a new favorite of mine!
The first time I chatted with Clara on the phone about her dreams for her big day, she had a few simple requests. One of those was to make sure she and Drew had a photo with me, the photographer. I cannot reiterate enough how touched I was by this. Never have I ever been asked by a bride to take a photo with them during our consultation! The fact that she had yet to meet me in person, yet wanted to treat me with the same kindness that one treats a best friend, is a moment I will never forget. When I first met Clara and Drew face-to-face at their engagement session (just four days before the wedding), I understood how Clara and Drew came to find each other. These two have an absolute heart of gold. Their smiles, contagious. Their laughter, joyous. Their love, beautiful. I knew that these two would carry the same energy into their wedding day.
I could share with you all the emotional, touching moments from Clara and Drew’s wedding day. I could go into detail on how Drew was an absolute sobbing mess when he saw Clara walk down the aisle (even though they did a first look!). I could recount Clara’s father’s toast to the guests, sharing how toddler Clara would drop her dirty diaper down the laundry shoot, walk downstairs, and pick up her diaper because she believed the diaper to be too heavy to walk down the stairs in. I could gush about how romantic their first dance was under the vintage string lights at golden hour on their outdoor dance floor.
But perhaps one of my favorite moments of the day, unbeknownst to most guests in attendance, happened during bridal portraits. Clara and I were chatting while Drew was saying hi to some guests when all of the sudden, she fell into a squat position (to give her feet some rest from her gorgeous heels). I couldn’t help but start laughing. Her pose reminded me so much of the movie Bridesmaids when the bride-to-be ran into the middle of the street in a gorgeous wedding dress (shortly after eating at a Mexican restaurant for lunch). When I told Clara why I was laughing, we both started laughing uncontrollably at the thought!
Clara and Drew, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your wedding day. You two are kind beyond words, and joyful beyond belief. Those two facts alone made it an absolute honor for me to serve you, and a pleasure for every guest in attendance at your wedding to witness your love for each other. I hope you love your memories as much as I loved capturing them!
