I always tell couples during their initial consultation with me that the more personal touches they incorporate into their wedding day, the more precious their wedding day memories will be. Dana and Jameson’s wedding at Wedgewood Weddings Black Forest was such a beautiful event, and the thoughtfulness of their details made it even more beautiful.
Of course there will always be some personal elements to every wedding – the guest lists, the toasts, the couple being wed. But I think my favorite personal touch of Dana and Jameson’s wedding day was our impromptu trip to Josh & John’s for ice cream.
About a month before a wedding, I send my couples an extensive questionnaire going over every detail of their big day. This allows me to arrive on a wedding day best prepared to serve my couples. On Dana and Jameson’s questionnaire, they mentioned how they would love to stop by Josh & John’s after their ceremony. For those of you who don’t know, Josh & John’s is a delicious ice cream shop based in Colorado Springs, and there just so happened to be a location minutes away from Dana and Jameson’s ceremony site. Little did they know how I, too, love ice cream, and I made it a priority to create an opportunity in their timeline to get some newlywed ice cream.
Dana’s smile was so big when I told her right before her ceremony that we had time to get ice cream on the way to the reception venue. She told me she had wrote it down in the questionnaire out of wishfulness, but had no idea it would actually be realistic! My quote to her was, “Of course I would make this happen. When looking back on your wedding day, you’re going to be so much happier remembering how you went and got ice cream instead of taking 20 more minutes of husband and wife portraits when we’ve already taken so many.”
After their ceremony, we took a few stunning under-the-veil shots and then made our way to Josh & John’s. If that’s not a personal touch on a wedding day, then I don’t know what is!
Thank you to everyone who helped contribute to Dana and Jameson's wedding day!
