Madeline and David’s wedding at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs was one I had been looking forward to ever since I first spoke to Madeline on the phone. With a love story so genuine and a couple so inherently kind, this wedding was truly so beautiful.
In a world of endless possibilities in finding a potential life partner, Madeline and David found each other on the dating app Hinge (the app’s tagline is “the app that’s meant to be deleted). Any couple who decides to meet for ice cream on their first date is my kind of couple! From ice cream to hiking, these two quickly fell in love as they bonded over their passion for an outdoor, active lifestyle.
David pulled off what many can’t – a surprise proposal. A supposed double date hiking to the Wayfarers Chapel in California was truly a proposal in disguise. Not only does the Wayfarers Chapel have the most gorgeous view, but this is also where Madeline and David went on their second date! On a rainy Saturday morning, they drove to the chapel and David asked Madeline to be his wife.
Madeline and David’s wedding was unique in that David graduated from the Air Force Academy. With that distinction, Madeline and David chose to get married at the Air Force Academy. Traditionally, graduates choose to get married in the Air Force Academy Chapel. However, the chapel is undergoing renovations for the next few years. With that, Madeline used her resourcefulness and decided that the golf course would be a beautiful spot for the couple to say their vows.
With David being an Air Force graduate, there were a few other traditions these two incorporated into their wedding day. At the ceremony, they had a falcon in attendance! A cadet from the Falconry club at the Air Force Academy was in attendance with the falcon. Also, these two held a military saber arch upon the exit for the ceremony. I think one of my favorite photos from the whole day was Madeline and David’s reaction to seeing the arch, truly marking their marriage as official!
Madeline and David, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your wedding day. I wish you two all the best as you continue on this journey of love, laughter, and joy that is marriage.
Be sure to check out their Colorado mountain engagement session!
